Worship of Shivling or Shivlinga means worship of Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva is the supreme deity of all gods and living beings. He is the destroyer of sorrows and the giver of happiness and prosperity. In fact, by worshiping him you can attain a complete swarga (heaven) in this world and the hereafter. He is the savior of all human beings, beings, and everything that exists in the universe.

The Shivling is actually a reflection of the divinity of Lord Shiva and is also kept in many temples and homes in many countries. This is the only outward symbol of the formless existence, Lord Shiva, the soul residing in the chambers of your heart. He is your resident, your innermost soul or soul, and he is also equal to the Brahmand (Universe).

The worshipping of Shivling is the easiest way to achieve salvation and also symbolizes the union of mind and soul. The linga has a mysterious or indescribable power (or Shakti). It is believed that it induces concentration of the mind and helps to focus one’s attention. This is the reason why ancient sages and rishis of India were advised to install Linga in the temples of Lord Shiva and keep it in the home.
